ABOUT LEGENDS OF POP

Legends of Pop is one man, just me, Mike O'Brien, performing a mad cavalcade of costume changes, impressions, Rock, Punk, Pop and excitement.

It is Sir Jimmy Saville OBE taking off his wig and tracksuit and becoming Noddy Holder of Slade right in front of your very eyes.

It is Alice Cooper in full make up, brandishing a sword over the heads of the audience.

It is Bryan Ferry ripping off his bow tie and jacket to reveal Fergal Sharkey of the Undertones below, who then transmogrifies into Shane McGowan of the Pogues.

Legends of Pop is the carrot topped Johnny Rotten sneering his way through Anarchy in the UK and God Save the Queen in his chaos of ripped clothing and chains.

Legends of Pop is more than that.

It is Mott the Hoople, the Buzzcocks, Madness, Alan "Fluff" Freeman. Legends every one!"

The show is breathtaking. No. Really. It literally leaves me breathless, and it is exactly the sort of show that I would want to go and see if I wasn't in it.

Book Legends of Pop for your party, celebration, corporate event NOW!.

Come on. Honestly. Once you have seen the Legends of Pop, you will never forget the experience.

ABOUT MIKE O'BRIEN

The Z Men (L to R: Dumiso, Mike, Tim)

Mike O'Brien started out singing back in 1978 in a Hull punk band, the Z-Men.

The Z-Men played a number of gigs, and supported Crass, the Rezillos and Gary Glitter.

The band split up in 1980  due to the pressure of fame (and supporting Gary Glitter)

Mike  then became the singer in a band called the Velvetones.

The Velvetones (L to R: Dave H, Matt, Mike, Dave R, Keith)

The Velvetones didn't support anyone that you have ever heard of, probably, but they did do a gig at Oxford University where tickets cost £60 each (In 1980s money!).

However, the band did record some of their songs. You can hear one on the listen page of this website.

More Velvetones songs can be found with a quick search of the excellent Tone and Wave website.

The Velvetones also made this video!

The band came to a halt when the drummer and guitarist left to be in the Beautiful South.

Mike let his resentment fester for many years.

In addition to performing "Legends of Pop" Mike is currently a part of the sucessful South Yorkshire Charity Roadshow "Stars in Our Eyes"

Mike O'Brien is a bloke in his forties vainly struggling to re-live the glories of his youth

He should know better.
